Two association CEOs were recently recognized by different organizations for their leadership in their industries.
The Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America has named Consumer Healthcare Products Association CEO Scott Melville "Humanitarian of the Year" for his commitment to fighting medicine abuse. At the same time, the International Association of Exhibitions and Events will give Association of Equipment Manufacturers President Dennis Slater the 2016 Pinnacle Award in December for his achievements in the events industry.
CADCA recognized Melville during an Oct. 6 ceremony for his association's 10-year partnership with the group in combating medicine abuse. Also honored was former U.S. Rep. Mary Bono (R-Calif.), who was named "Champion for Drug-Free Kids" for her efforts to reduce drug abuse among youth.
"We are thrilled to recognize and celebrate the achievements of these two exceptional leaders," said CADCA CEO Arthur Dean said in a statement. "Scott and Mary have been instrumental to CADCA's success and have made significant contributions to address medicine abuse and drug use amongst our nation's youth." http://bit.ly/2dttRwp
IAEE said Slater's leadership has helped AEM grow his association to 900 corporate members and $32 million in annual revenue. The group also noted that the CEO has served in various volunteer leadership roles at IAEE over the years, including chair of its board of directors.
"He has made an indelible mark on IAEE's success both domestically and abroad, and is called upon regularly to share insights and best practices with colleagues as a speaker and panelist at numerous industry events," IAEE said in a statement.
Slater will be given the Pinnacle Award during IAEE's annual meeting in Anaheim, Calif., held Dec. 6-8. http://bit.ly/2dttwtG
